NadaGras is coming to a close tomorrow and I am…well, to be honest I’m exhausted! But so so thrilled.
In case you haven’t picked this up from me by now – I’m not generally the most social of people. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love people. But I do have a tendency to try and operate as a sort of ridiculous one-person autarky-to keep within my own small little zone and rarely venture out. And what happens when we isolate, when we withdraw and internalize…is that we end up missing out on some really wonderful experiences. Engage in your community and you can discover incredible people, laughter, fun, and energy. If you think about this idea that we all carry and exude creative energy, just imagine what can happen when we gather together, collaborate and share support and ideas.
I am just so overwhelmed and gosh, may I say a little *tear* emotional (oops, have I been drinking?)… The support and encouragement I’ve received from some of these amazing artists and wonderful people… For all you NadaDada veterans reading this, and anyone who has stopped by this weekend – Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. What a welcome! Making art is so much a part of who I am, and to connect with others in an honest and creative way is so important. I only hope that I can give as well as everything I have taken away.
People ask me “Where’s the art in Reno?” “Where’s the culture?” Well let me tell you, it’s here. Creatio ex nihilo: creation out of nothing. Travel is beautiful, necessary sure. But why look elsewhere, when art is all around you? Embrace your own community for everything it is- get engaged, become a part of it. Love it’s beautiful oddities. Add your own energy and you will only make things brighter.
This is honest you guys. I’m not trying to sell paintings here or anything.
Humans are creative beings.
We should never be afraid of what we don’t understand. Never be afraid of the odd, the bizarre, new, creepy, strange, weird, unusual. Never be intimidated by the dark. So go and explore. Play! Get involved in your life! We are creative beings. Every single one. I promise you that.
